Just in the Nick of Time!

We are fast approaching Christmas Day. In some households there will excited children bounding down the stairs to discover what jolly old St. Nick has left under the tree. Others will be dreading the holiday season and hope it passes soon. Loneliness will  overshadow them amidst the carolers and yule tide fires. Some will be stressed, rushing about in the final shopping hours before the stores close on Christmas Eve.  Some will use that familiar phrase “Oh, I got here just in the nick of time” before the doors were locked and then it would be too late to purchase that last minute gift.  ‘Just in the nick of time’ is a phrase many have used at one time or another. This phrase brought to my mind a Bible verse that sums up the reason for the season.

Galations 4:4a ” But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son…”

It would not harm the meaning to paraphrase it this way; at just the right time, or just in the nick of time. I love that. At just the right time God sent his Son into the world. By way of personal testimony I can tell you that at just the right time or just in the nick of time God’s Son, Jesus Christ came to me at the very moment I needed Him. It’s just how God is. Never early, never late.  He is always on time.

How about you dear reader? What is your life like this Christmas season? Are you lonely, stressed out, worried? You needn’t be. God can and will send his Son to you just in the nick of time. It can happen for you the same way it happened for me. All you have to do is call out to God. I called out to God and He answered me. He will do the same for you. Jeremiah 33:3 has been referred to as God’s telephone number. The first part of that verse says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee…”

That’s my prayer for you this holiday season…that you will call on God…and He will answer you and show you great and might things.
